BellyRobics

For Fun and Fitness!

Using simple but unique movements, we'll get our heart-rates elevated to a fat-burning level.  This is for all ages!  Some of my students are well into their sixties, and still have a great time!  You can easily adjust for your personal needs.  This one is a lot of fun.

We do not focus on perfecting our technique- indeed, the number one rule here is, when in doubt, SHAKE SOMETHING!!  LOL  This class strives to maintain it's goal of health and fitness through dancing.  Please see the BellyDance classes if you wish to learn to bellydance.

Class time is 60 minutes.

NEW CLASS:
 1) Fridays, 6:30- 7:30 Begins FEB 05; 4 Weeks $20 when you sign up on or before the first day only. Drop-Ins are $10.

THE HISTORY OF BELLYROBICS

This is a fairly new addition to the world of bellydance.   It is a workout that moves continuously using a little or a lot of bellydance moves.  It actually falls more apply under the heading of aerobic workouts, and not under the umbrella term Belly Dance.

Indeed, I've run into more than one fitness DVD where it quickly becomes apparent that an aerobics and fitness instructor took a session or two of bellydance and began teaching bellyrobics.  I have seen first-hand a studio owner push one of her instructors into teaching bellydance after only one session of training, as though it was something to be learned as quickly as an aerobics workout.

My personal opinion is that this is fine and dandy.  The more women who discover and use bellydance, the better.  I hope it makes them curious to learn more and discover the decades of study ahead of them.  I also applaud every woman who tries to add variety to her fitness plans so that she stays healthy and active throughout her life.  Sometimes it's difficult for the busy woman to make time for her own health, so if a little shimmy in aerobics class keeps her coming back, then she gets a loud zhagareet from me.

I'll review a few of the DVDs I've come across in the upcoming months.  Whatever you choose to do, take care of your mind and spirit by honoring your body and its needs.  In other words, Work It Girl!   :-)
